    The Top Supplements for Crossfit

Supplements can play a major role in Crossfit success and those who make most of them get their desired results in a shorter time period and they last longer. Even though many crossfitters and trainers say that your body does not need supplements as long as you follow excellent nutrition, research has shown that supplements can certainly give you the extra fuel and nutrients your body needs, especially when you are living a very active lifestyle or exercising vigorously. Plus they are convenient, and can help to make your workouts easier and more enjoyable. Crossfitters tend to workout frequently, and for this reason, they often need supplementation in addition to proper nutrition to enhance their performance, and progress at their absolute best. Remember, when your muscles are working this hard they require certain nutrients that are very difficult to obtain through even the most diligent diet, such as paleo. Many products claim to give effective supplementation to crossfit athletes, but most of them do not deliver on their promises. This website will help you to find the best products that give an all around and effective supplementation towards achieving your crossfit fitness goals. These supplements are legal to acquire and use and can be purchased at your local supplement store or online.

    Protein powder

Protein powder is one of the Crossfit supplements that can help you in getting your desired results fast. The use of this powder is often a matter of convenience. Although you can’t compare it to the natural sources of protein such as beef, chicken or fish, these are not often readily available after an intense workout. Your body needs readily available protein after a workout. The nutritional timing is also important for you to rip most out of your exercises. You do not need to wait for two hours or three to prepare for a meal rich in protein. Ensure that you have a shaker bottle, two scoops of powder, as well as a bottle of water with you every time you go for your Crossfit training. Protein powder is an ideal product that is suited for athletes who perform rigorous exercises that require a lot of strength while training for a long duration.

    Creatine

Scientists have done extensive research on creatine and have found it to be suitable for athletes and Crossfit trainers. Scientific studies have shown that creatine promotes anaerobic strength and natural development of muscles and is essential for recovery after a long duration of exercise. Unfortunately, our bodies do not have the ability to produce enough creatine to cater for the needs of individuals who exercise regularly. Your diet can also not provide you with enough sources of creatine to satisfy your needs. Plasma Creatine is an effective and non-bloating liquid of creatine, which is safe to use.

    Beta Alanine

Beta Alanine supplement helps Crossfit trainers to train harder and for longer. Studies show that this supplement works by increasing the amount of time it takes before your muscle becomes tired after an intense workout. The product will also help you to build more muscle, lose fat, and get stronger. In fact, the more you train, the better it works. Research indicates that the Beta Alanine supplements are safe to use.

    Fish Oil

This is a very important supplementation to keep your body healthy at all time. The supplement will help the Crossfit pros in many ways. For example, taking at least two grams of fish oil will help to decrease the inflammation in your body and makes your joints to feel less sore after an extended workout. Some studies have shown that fish oil acts better than painkillers for chronic back and neck pain. The fish oil also helps in improving your mood, so that you can concentrate on exercise. It will also help you in building muscle, decrease craving for sugar and carbohydrates as well as decrease the fat in your body.

    MCT's

This supplement contains special fat that fuels your body and brain. Unlike other fats that are digested slowly this supplement is digested faster to produce energy. This oil provides instant energy. Take it fifteen to twenty minutes before starting your Crossfit workouts for effective results. The supplement also helps to burn excess fat in the body. The oil also energizes your brain to keep you more focused to your workouts, making you to exercise longer without feeling mentally fatigued. The oil also helps your body to build muscle and keep it healthy by encouraging growth of healthy bacteria in your gut.

    Caffeine

Caffeine acts as a potent central nervous system stimulator that keeps your mind and body alert during heavy training sessions. Rigorous and prolonged exercises are heavy burdens to people’s central nervous system. Although some experts think that the failure is muscular scientist have shown that connection between the brain and muscle is the one that fail first. Caffeine will help to keep the connection between your brain and muscle thus helping you to train longer.

    BCAA

Branch Chain Amino Acids are some of the most potent forms of protein that helps our body to recover from intense and prolonged workouts. The main purpose of this product is to keep the body in an anabolic state as possible during an intense training as well as to prevent catabolic signaling that occurs under fatigue. The BCAAs also helps in keeping the protein synthesis in the muscle bellies higher than the baseline during and after training. It is more effective when used with sugar or with liquid carb source.

    Sugars and/or Liquid Carbs

These will act as effective sources of carbohydrates. If you are just training to keep your body in shape, you may not require carbohydrate supplements. You just need to take a healthy diet and your body will get all the nutrients it needs. However, as Crossfit trainer, you might need carbohydrate supplementation. When an athlete takes these supplements, more carbohydrate will be availed to the muscle thus having more energy that can be used in training for a longer period.

    Zinc & Magnesium

Zinc & Magnesium are other important Crossfit supplements that the body of a Crossfit trainer needs. After years of research scientist have shown the importance of these macronutrients to Crossfit athletes. Research also indicates that the supplements are ideal for enhancing muscle building and testosterone production. The nutrients are also very important for athletes who lack zinc, or magnesium, and for cross trainers who sweat regularly.

    Chia Seeds

Although these aren't technically a supplement they are a "super food" that help tremendously with intense workouts such as crossfit WODs and other high level fitness programs. Chia seeds are rich in fiber, omega-3 fats, protein, vitamins, and minerals. They are known to help with energy and endurance. Chia even means "strength" in the Mayan language, and they have been called the "runners food" because long distance runners and ancient warriors would use them as fuel for their bodies.

    Coconut Oil

This is another super food that is not necessarily a "supplement" by definition, but it is used a lot by crossfitters, athletes, and health & fitness professionals due to its many benefits. Some of these include fat loss and better brain function. Studies have shown that populations who eat a lot of coconuts are among the healthiest people in the world. Coconut oil can also increase your energy expenditure and help you burn more fat.

  • FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Your #1 Recommended CrossFit Supplement?

This is a tough one to answer because it depends on each persons individual needs, and whether you are asking about pre workouts, intraworkouts, post workouts, or general nutritional supplements. However, if I am forced to choose one thing that I recommend the most, then my best answer would be... Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein

Are These Supplements Legal to Buy?

Yes, of course! Everything discussed on this page is completely legal to purchase. They are sold at legitimate retailers, including: Tiger Fitness, A1 Supplements, BodyBuilding.com, GNC, Complete Nutrition, Total Nutrition, and hundreds of other well-known locations. However, if you are in any sports or competitions, you will need to check with them for any banned substances. Often times they have different rules on what you can or can't take.

    Do You Recommend Testosterone Boosters?

I would say this is probably the thing you have to be more careful with compared to every other supplement discussed on here. When I'm trying to build muscle and basically "get jacked up" then I do sometimes take testosterone boosters. Or if I have gotten lazy and put on a lot of extra fat, and want something to help shred it off faster. I have also taken a testosterone booster on occasion while doing crossfit to help with my strength. I'm not saying that I do or don't recommend testosterone boosters. It's a personal choice. However, I would suggest being more cautious with them, doing your research, and fully understand what you are taking beforehand.

    How Can I Shred Fat?

Just doing CrossFit and eating a paleo diet should pretty much take care of all your fat loss. But if you still have some problem areas that you just can't seem to shed there are some good fat burning supplements on the market to help you out. Go to TigerFitness and check out their selection.

How Can I Recover More Quickly?

Eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of rest should be top on your list for aiding in recovery. Otherwise there is a lot of supplementation you can do to help recover faster. Protein powder shakes taken immediately after workouts are very popular for this. Other things include Creatine, BCAA's, Fish Oil, Electrolytes, etc... Many of these things can be taken individually but often they are taken together in supplement stacks or various products that combine them into one.

Should I Take a Pre Workout for Crossfit?

That is entirely up to you. Everyone is different so it's a personal preference and something only you can answer for yourself. There are many crossfitters that find them to be incredible but there are also some who don't like them. I personally love them and think they help a ton for my workouts - crossfit as well as regular lifting at the gym - but not everyone is the same.

I'm a Female, Can I Take Workout Supplements?

Of course! Supplements are not just for men. Although it does seem that a lot more men take them compared to women for workout purposes, there are still plenty of supplements females can (and do) take. Many of the products listed on this page are great for both men and women. Just be sure to read the information for each individual product to be sure it's not something that is designed for men only because some of them are.
